Tawney Farm, LLC

Summersville, WV

The Tawney Farm is a small-scale sheep farm located next to the beautiful Gauley River National Recreation Area in the Mountain Lakes region of central West Virginia. Our 120 acres lie nestled in between two beautiful mountains -- one of them named Panther Mountain-- in the Gauley River gorge. Here we raise and sell Merino and Jacob sheep for their wool. Our farm is also home to miniature horses, chickens, and of course dogs and cats.
Except for Gauley whitewater season (weekend after Labor Day through Bridge Day), we provide a totally private primitive camping experience where you will be our only guest.

The Tawney Farm is a 120-acre working sheep farm nestled in the beautiful mountains of the Gauley River National Recreation Area. Drink in the beautiful views of the Gauley River gorge and hike our nature trails while experiencing the sights and sounds of a real working farm. Camp on the mountaintop and experience incredible night skies. Or, pop up your tent at one of the shady, wooded campsites along the trail. You can even camp in one of our scenic pastures.

Fry up some farm fresh eggs over the campfire or grill! Park-style grills, fire pit grills and camping cook stoves are provided for your use. You are, of course, welcome to bring your own small portable grill. And to make your "roughing it" camping experience not so rough, we've added a few amenities! Clean Portajohns are provided as well as a "to die for" outdoor hot water shower! And get this, firewood is FREE!

Close to Summersville Lake & Dam, Carnifex Ferry State Park and just minutes from the wild but beautiful Gauley River, you're sure to find something fun to do while camping with us.

Pets are welcome but must remain on a leash at all times. Payment is required to make a reservation which must be made 48 hours in advance.
