Main Street Morgantown

Morgantown, WV

Main Street Morgantown (MSM) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the continued revitalization of downtown Morgantown and the Historic Wharf District. Downtown Morgantown is an attractive, clean, safe center of commerce, government and education. Since its founding in 1984, MSM has been involved in the creation of 1,300 new jobs, the opening of more than 200 new businesses and over $126 million dollars in investments. Main Street Morgantown is a “grass-roots” organization which works primarily in the areas of historic preservation and economic development.

Our downtown district features more than 30 distinct restaurants, pubs and eateries. We have an eclectic blend. With everything from fine dining, to Japanese fusion, to pizza by the slice, Morgantown’s got you covered.

Our historic downtown has served as a shopping destination for over century. With the increase in off site chain complexes, the downtown has shifted to satisfy more niche markets. While this shift has seen an increase in the number of boutique shops (carrying many high end and hard to find products), ‘downtown’ doesn’t always equal ‘pricey’.

The Wharf District has become one of the best portals to the Caperton Trail. What was once an old warehouse district, is now a revitalized growing commercial and residential center. Located next to the Monongahela River an the Caperton Trail, the Wharf District area is growing rapidly. Public and private investments have combined to include street and trail improvements, restaurants, retail, professional services offices, and high-end loft apartments.
